The Bride Tried to Take Her Fiancé’s Late Wife’s Necklace Off His Daughter—Then He Walked In

Olivia had almost decided not to wear the necklace.

She stood in front of the hotel mirror holding it between her fingers for nearly ten minutes.

A small sapphire pendant.

Nothing extravagant.

Nothing flashy.

But it had belonged to her mother.

Her mother, Grace, had worn it on the day she married Olivia’s father twenty-four years earlier.

Grace died when Olivia was thirteen.

Years later, Olivia’s father, Michael, gave the necklace to her.

He told her:

“Your mom always wanted you to have this.”

So when Michael announced he was marrying Vanessa, Olivia thought wearing it might be meaningful.

Not as a protest.

Not as a statement.

Simply as a way of keeping a tiny piece of her mother with her on an important family day.

Michael loved the idea.

When Olivia showed him the necklace the week before the wedding, he smiled.

“Your mom would like that.”

Olivia thought that settled it.

Vanessa apparently did not.
