Then They Found the Camera in the Kitchen

Natalie had a small indoor security camera.

It was normally pointed toward the back entrance.

The device had been knocked sideways during the incident.

But the memory card survived.

The footage was disturbing without being graphic.

At 11:16 p.m., the back door opened.

A man entered quickly.

Natalie immediately confronted him.

She shouted:

“What are you doing here?”

The man raised his hands.

He said:

“Just listen to me.”

Natalie pushed him toward the door.

He grabbed the edge of the table to keep from falling.

The chair tipped over.

Natalie yelled:

“Get out!”

The man replied:

“You need to know what he did.”

Then Natalie froze.

The Man Was Her Brother

His name was Eric Brooks.

He was 37.

Natalie had told friends she hadn’t spoken to Eric in almost two years.

Police quickly found his photograph.

Linda confirmed he could have been the person running through the backyard.

But why had Eric entered through the back?

And why did he flee from police?

Detectives searched his records.

Eric had prior charges for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Nothing recent.

Then officers found the pickup truck.

Abandoned.
