Her Car Was Still There
The woman’s car remained parked exactly where she normally left it.
Meanwhile, her phone, purse and keys had disappeared.
Mason looked through the house while officers checked the surrounding property. Then, suddenly, one of them called from the garage.
“Detective.”
Mason turned and walked toward the officer.
Small drops of blood marked the garage floor.
He looked back at the husband.
“When was the last time you were in here?”
“Yesterday.”
Mason continued questioning him.
“Who else has access?”
“No one.”
“Are you sure?”
The husband hesitated before answering.
“My wife’s sister has a key.”
That answer immediately changed the direction of the investigation.
The Neighbor Saw Her Leave
Next, Mason went next door to speak with the neighbor, Frank.
Frank remembered seeing the missing woman around 10:45 p.m. However, she hadn’t been alone.
Mason asked, “Was she alone?”
Frank shook his head.
“No.”
“Who was she with?”
“A woman.”
Mason frowned.
“Did you see her face?”
“I couldn’t see her face.”
Frank remembered one more detail: a black SUV.
According to the neighbor, the missing woman had gotten into the vehicle.
Mason returned to the house and reviewed everything he knew.
Her car remained at home.
Someone had taken her somewhere else.
The blood in the garage made the situation even more disturbing.
