Then the Flight Attendant Arrived
The mother had apparently explained the situation near the back of the aircraft.
A flight attendant came to row 18.
She was polite.
“Hi. We’re trying to see whether we can get this family seated together.”
Rachel nodded.
“Okay.”
“Would you be willing to switch to 27B?”
“No, thank you.”
The flight attendant did not argue.
“Understood.”
Then she asked several other passengers nearby.
Nobody wanted 27B.
One passenger had paid for extra legroom.
Another was traveling with her husband.
Another passenger had an aisle seat and didn’t want a middle seat.
Within a few minutes, it became obvious what the real problem was.
Almost everyone supported the idea of the mother sitting with her child.
Nobody actually wanted to surrender their own better seat to make it happen.
