Then Thomas Called Police
Thirty-six hours after the family disappeared, Thomas Morgan’s phone turned on.
Investigators immediately attempted to trace it.
The phone connected briefly to a cellular tower near Lancaster.
Then disappeared again.
But before it went offline, Thomas called 911.
The call lasted seventeen seconds.
The dispatcher heard Thomas say:
“We’re safe.”
Then:
“Don’t come looking for us yet.”
The dispatcher asked:
“Mr. Morgan, where are you?”
Thomas replied:
“He knows the house.”
Then the call ended.
Police Didn’t Know Who “He” Was
Was Thomas talking about Evan Keller?
Someone connected to the 2004 disappearance?
Someone else entirely?
Investigators now believed at least some members of the Morgan family had left voluntarily.
But that created another problem.
How did they leave the house?
The cameras showed nobody exiting.
The cars remained outside.
The backyard was fenced.
Police searched again.
And this time they focused on the basement.
