Linda said:
“Madison didn’t create this situation alone.”
Claire replied:
“I know. Your son did.”
Linda continued:
“And there’s another child involved now.”
Claire stared at her.
“What exactly are you saying?”
Linda hesitated.
“Both babies are my grandchildren.”

Jenna whispered:
“Oh, absolutely not.”
Linda raised her hands.
“I’m stating a fact.”

“At my baby shower?”

“You told me Claire already knew.”

Madison said:
“When Evan stopped answering me, I contacted Linda.”
Evan turned toward his mother.
“Mom?”

“She said Claire knew there had been problems and everyone was trying to keep things calm until after the baby came.”
